Bruce Braley (IA-01) introduced legislation today to create a national Veterans’ Jobs Corps, a program that would seek to put unemployed veterans back to work using skills they developed in the military – to improve national parks, serve as police officers and firefighters, and work in communities. Braley is the highest-ranking Democrat on the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity.

Braley Presents Overdue WWII Medals to Cedar Falls Veteran
Cedar Falls, IA – Rep. Bruce Braley (IA-01) today traveled to Cedar Falls to present seven military service medals – including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star – to Henry A. Johnson, 93, a World War II Army veteran who earned the medals but never received them after he was wounded in Italy during the war.
Braley and Waterloo Veteran Travel to Iwo Jima

Bruce Braley (IA-01) joined Marine Corps veteran David Greene of Waterloo to travel to Iwo Jima, Japan, as part of a program organized by the nonprofit Greatest Generations Foundation. The visit was Greene’s first since fighting in the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945. Braley’s father, Byard Braley, was also a veteran of the Battle of Iwo Jima.
